The Coaching Industry Has a Strategy Addiction

…and it’s quietly keeping smart leaders stuck.

Let’s cut straight through it.

If you’re a high-achieving leader, you do not have a strategy problem. I repeat… you DO NOT have a strategy problem.

I know without every meeting you, that if you’re a high-performer you can take almost any funnel, framework, or “proven system” you find online and implement it. You’ve already done it. More than once, I would bet. You’ve joined programs, reverse-engineered people you admire, and followed someone’s launch sequence just to understand what makes it convert.

You don’t need more information because you’ve already proven you can execute.

Which is exactly why the problem is not strategy.

It’s your identity, my friend.

Somewhere along the way, the coaching industry trained smart people to believe they were one missing funnel away from ease. One missing script away from consistency. One missing offer structure away from predictable income.

So you keep collecting strategies like they’re answers, while still telling yourself you should be farther ahead by now.

Not quite the answers you were looking for, are they?

Strategies are distractions for a leader who already knows enough – more than enough – but doesn’t fully trust that knowledge to carry them to their next level of success.

How do I know?

Because if you let yourself take all that brilliant knowledge, sass, and intelligence, you wouldn’t be so hard on yourself for where you’re at right now.

Most high performers aren’t stuck because they don’t know what to do. They’re stuck because they keep defaulting to being the good girl in business.

  • The one who stays overly safe by executing on a tried and true method of some internet guru, knowing it doesn’t fully fit into who you are as a leader.
  • The one who overthinks anything bold, because you’ve been taught that bold and edgy are signs of unprofessionalism.
  • The one who waits until it feels “fully ready” before you move, knowing that you’re fkn pissed off and fed up with your own tardiness
  • The one who wants it all to be perfect before releasing it, so there’s no judgment and no one telling you “oh there she goes, changing her mind again.”

If you fit into any of the above, it’s costing you momentum.

Not because you’re incapable of achieving the success you desire, but because you’re over-functioning in all the wrong places, and under-leading where it actually matters.

This is what keeps intelligent, capable founders spinning in cycles of almost-there growth.

So if we strip it all back, these are three shifts that actually change everything.

1. Trade perfection for visibility

You don’t need to be the most polished, professional, or universally approved person in the room. In fact, being the black sheep in a sea of white is what will really get you noticed.

You need to be visible enough to lead.

Perfection is often just a socially acceptable way to delay being seen in your actual authority. It feels responsible. It feels ethical. It feels safe and it also keeps you out of momentum.

I’ve said it to all of my clients – you don’t need to pull up a seat at the table. You need to flip that fkn table and show everyone it’s ok to stand.

2. Audit where you’re over-giving your energy

Look honestly at where your attention is going.

Where are you still putting everyone else first—clients, family, audience expectations, perceived standards—while your own capacity quietly drains in the background?

This isn’t about burnout as a dramatic breakdown moment, it’s subtler than that. It truly creeps up on you, that slow erosion of your own internal fuel.

And you can feel it when even the things meant to restore you don’t fully restore you anymore. That’s not a scheduling issue. That’s a leadership one.

Putting everyone else first is continuing to be the good girl because it’s what we are meant to do when we are so smart and capable – help everyone.

But success isn’t going to happen for you if you put yourself last. It will happen when you know how to fill your own tank, and give to others from the overflow.

3. Stop being the only one holding your blind spots

At some point, high performers hit a ceiling that strategy can’t move. And we are societally programmed to continue to search for the answer on our own, instead of taking the shortcut and finding someone who can break those walls down for us.

The gap isn’t operational anymore—it’s perceptual. And often tied directly to your identity.

We may be brilliant at a lot of things, but the one thing we cannot fully see are the patterns and conditioning that we are caught inside of. That’s not a mindset flaw, that’s how perspective works (which is also why those mindset coaches aren’t working out for you either).

The most effective leaders in this world, don’t move alone – they all have success coaches they bring in to see the gaps when they cannot.

When the top 1% in the world want to move, and want to move quickly, they don’t hold back from hiring the support that will get them through there tomorrow.

You don’t want to say it out loud, but you and I both know you don’t need more strategy.

You need less internal resistance to your own brilliance.

Once your leadership shifts, execution stops being something you force, and starts becoming something you trust yourself to do cleanly, decisively, and without the constant inner negotiation.

That’s when you become the game changer- when you stopped abandoning yourself inside every system you already knew how to use.
